Chifley Tower

Built in 1992, the 42-storey Chifley Tower is one of Sydney's most iconic buildings and prime real estate in the CBD. GWA Consultants was engaged to perform a major Sustainability Upgrade to improve the performance and energy efficiency of the building.

With approximately 25% of the Sydney Stock Exchange being traded through companies located within Chifley Tower, minimising system downtime was a high priority.GWA Consultants were responsible for the detailed design of the air conditioning systems and controls upgrades, which included the development of the upgrade staging strategies to ensure the uninterrupted provision of air conditioning to the tenants.

Chifley Tower was awarded Winner of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat’s 2015 Performance Award. This international award recognised the building that had the least environmental impact on the urban environment.
